Cobalt Digital to Release Major Enhancements to COMPASS and FUSION3G Lines at IBC 2013

IBC Stand 10.B44

Increased Functionality to Target Production and Post Production Community

Urbana, IL – Cobalt Digital (www.CobaltDigital.com), manufacturer of award-winning 3G/HD/SD-SDI conversion gear, will announce significant loudness metering enhancements to its COMPASS® and FUSION3G® lines (Fusion 99xx, COMPASS 9085 and 9301 for AES only applications cards) at this year's IBC2013, at Stand 10.B44. The new features, which will include multi-session loudness metering and logging with timecode input, will specifically be optimized for the production and post-production community's workflow.

"The implementation of ATSC A/85 and EBU R128 loudness measurements and compliance directives, along with their respective incorporation in both the U.S. and Europe, has yielded great improvements in TV loudness," explains Chris Shaw, EVP Sales and Marketing, Cobalt Digital. "There is now a growing call from broadcasters for content creators to deliver compliant content – as this will greatly reduce the need for extreme corrections at the broadcast head-ends and aid in maintaining original audio production quality. That's why Cobalt Digital is excited to be rolling out these important enhancements that will specifically address the needs of the production and post-production community. Cobalt's extensive range of cards is continually growing, offering innovative solutions for the most demanding applications."

Cobalt's wide range of cards will be ATSC A/85 ITU BS.1770-3 and EBU R128 compliant. Other enhancements will include optional LTC input for accurate dubbing, post production and EDLs; full logging of all non-compliant issues; error warnings; and regional and standards variations configurable via Cobalt's remote control WinOGCP application. Now, WinOGCP provides session store and resume functions (stop/start without loss of placement or data), with subsequent sessions appended to give total session LKFS/LU reading.

An easily obtainable upgrade path includes Dolby Decode/Encode, Linear Acoustic® upMAX™ Upmixing and Linear Acoustic® AEROMAX™ Loudness Processing - dependent on which base card is deployed.

The Cobalt team will be on-hand to offer visitors demonstrations of the new features, as well as other new products and enhancements, at the company's stand during IBC2013.
