Agilent Technologies Introduces Broadband, Coaxial Solid-State PIN Diode Switches with Exceptional Isolation

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 16, 2007 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced a new family of coaxial solid-state PIN diode switches -- including single-pole double-throw (SPDT), single-pole four-throw (SP4T) and transfer switch models -- with a broad operating frequency range from 100 MHz up to 18 GHz for fast, accurate test in automatic test equipment (ATE) systems. Exceptional isolation and ultra-fast switching speed make these switches well suited for R&D and manufacturing engineers designing manufacturing test systems or requiring a fast switching solution to validate component performance.

Switch requirements today are as broad and varied as the applications in which they are used -- from testing high-speed antennas to high-volume semiconductor components. Specific requirements are determined by each application's needs, such as isolation, frequency and operating life. Agilent's new family of PIN diode switches features superior performance across all of these requirements.

Another key feature of Agilent's PIN diode switches is a high port-to-port isolation of greater than 80 dB. This feature minimizes cross talk between signal paths to reduce measurement uncertainty and ensure accurate testing. Additionally, an ultra-fast switching speed of 380 ns enables high-speed signal routing applications and maximizes manufacturing test throughput.

Agilent's new switch family features six PIN diode switch models, each operating from 100 MHz to either 8 GHz or 18 GHz. These models include the P9400A/C transfer, P9402A/C SPDT and P9404A/C SP4T switches.
