Coaxial HPGe Detectors offer optimal low-energy response.

Press Release Summary:

Part of PROFILE Series of P-type Coaxial HPGe detectors, GEM-MX models have useful energy range from below 10 keV to 3,000 keV. Units are supplied with standard high-transmission carbon-fiber window in aluminum endcap. Combination of thin front radiation entrance window with coaxial crystal of large dimensions results in HPGe detectors that are useful for counting both Marinelli samples and filter samples on endcap; all in single device.

New P-Type Coaxial HPGe Photon Detectors with Enhanced Low-Energy Efficiency

OAK RIDGE, TN, -The ORTEC® Products Group of AMETEK Advanced Measurement Technology has announced the addition of the GEM-MX models to its successful PROFILE Series of P-type Coaxial HPGe detectors. GEM-MX models offer improved low-energy response in a coaxial detector of large crystal dimensions.

"With the addition of the MX models to the PROFILE GEM Series, it is now possible to choose the optimum detector for a specific sample type and geometry based on crystal dimensions and radiation entrance window thickness, in every case," notes Ben Kennedy, Product Manager for Research Detectors.

"The new GEM-MX models add extra flexibility to that choice," he adds. "The detector models have a useful energy range from below 10 keV to 3000 keV and beyond. They are supplied with a standard high-transmission carbon-fiber window in an aluminum endcap. The combination of a thin front radiation entrance window with a coaxial crystal of large dimensions results in an HPGe detector with greater versatility, useful for counting both Marinelli samples and filter samples on endcap; all in a single detector.
