Belden® Introduces Brilliance® Digitruck(TM) 179DT Lightweight, Precision Video Coaxial Cables for HDTV and Mobile Broadcasting

RICHMOND, IN - Belden Electronics Division, a world leader in the development of wire and cable products for the broadcast and audio/visual markets, has added an RG- 179 Type Coaxial cable to its Brilliance line of broadcast cables. Brilliance DigiTruck(TM) 179DT lightweight, Precision Video coaxial cable is designed specifically for use in mobile television broadcast trucks where equipment load-weight is a prime concern and space in the truck is scarce. This lightweight and compact cable delivers high quality, reliable performance in analog, SDI, HDTV and AES/EBU digital audio transmissions.

In comparison to standard Mini RG-59/U type coaxes, the new DigiTruck(TM) 179DT weighs 60 percent less and requires up to 40 percent less space. Standard Mini RG-59/U type coaxes have a nominal OD of 0.159 inches; the 179DT has a nominal OD of 0.100 inches.

Despite its lightweight construction and extremely small size, Brilliance DigiTruck(TM) 179DT coax is very durable, featuring a crush-resistant, foamed high-density polyethylene (FHDPE) dielectric. DigiTruck(TM) 179DT coax cables also provide superior return loss characteristics. In fact, the cable's guaranteed return loss of 21dB (minimum) when sweep tested to 3 GHz, mimics the return loss performance of Belden's popular Brilliance 1505A precision video cable, plus DigiTruck(TM) 179DT provides 6dB of RL headroom against the SMPTE 292M specification.

Another unique feature, the cable's fold/braid shield design, offers a lightly bonded Duobond® tape that can either be left bonded to the insulation to simplify termination with one-piece connectors or removed for use with multi-piece connector designs.

Belden Brilliance DigiTruck(TM) 179DT coax is available in ten jacket colors: Red, Green, Blue, White, Yellow, Brown, Orange, Gray, Violet and Black. It is compatible with new connector designs from Kings Electronics, Trompeter, and others.
