Seco-Carboloy's New TP1000 Grade Increases Performance in High Production Steel Turning Operations

Warren, Mich, October 30, 2002 - For the machining of steel in high production and batch environments, Carboloy has introduced its next generation coated cemented carbide turning grade - TP1000. Numerous field tests of TP1000 against top competitive conventional coating designs have indicated that the new Seco-Carboloy grade consistently offers an increase in tool life and/or parts produced.

Designed to minimize all common wear patterns, TP1000 features a cobalt-enriched substrate with a very hard interior, and a very tough and wear resistant surface region. Usually seen as inverse properties, these combined properties offer both deformation resistance needed for high cutting speeds and excellent edge toughness for high reliability.

Says Carboloy Manager, Turning Programs, Don Graham, "TP1000 is showing outstanding results in a variety of applications. We're consistently seeing performance increases of over 60 percent and, in some roughing applications, we've seen a doubling of part output.

"In an internal finishing operation on our own Minimaster shaft, TP1000 showed a 76 percent increase in part output with minimal toolwear compared to our TP100 grade."

TP1000 is available in a variety of negative and positive chipbreaker geometries incluiding MF2, M3, M5, MR7, FF1, R4, Fl, F2 as well as wiper inserts in W-M3, W-MF2 and W-F1 geometry to handle roughing, medium roughing and finishing operations.
