Original Press Release:
Teflon(R) Coated Mandrels Speed Small Diameter Parts Output
Teflon coated stainless steel or nitinol forming mandrels that increase the output of extruded small-diameter tubing and formed rubber bladders are available from Applied Plastics Co., Inc. of Norwood, Massachusetts.
APC Teflon® Coated Mandrels feature a release coating precisely applied in thicknesses from 0.00005" to 0.0008" onto stainless steel or nitinol wire from 0.005" to 0.045" dia., with ±0.0001" final dia. tolerances. Providing a smooth, slippery surface that is chemically inert and can withstand up to 500°F, these mandrels increase the output of extruded small-diameter tubing, formed rubber bladders, and similar parts.
Eliminating flaking and the surface irregularities associated with conventional PTFE-coated or sprayed mandrels, the firm grit-blasts the stainless steel or nitinol wire before coating to create a superior bonding surface. APC Teflon® Coated Mandrels exhibit a 0.05 coefficient of friction when tested in accordance with ASTM-1894.
APC Teflon Coated Mandrels are priced from $1.19 per foot, depending upon material, size, tolerances and quantity; with delivery from stock. Literature and free stainless steel samples are available on request.
