Coalescing Media saves compressor oil.

Press Release Summary:

Formix(TM) media causes small drops of oil from compressor air stream to coalesce and collect in common area. Once oil is collected, it is then re-injected back into compressor. Media is available in variety of shapes and configurations for air/oil separators for industrial compressors. Separators using Formix media use less energy and take up less space than traditional pleated or wrapped separators.

Donaldson Company's New Formix(TM) Media Technology Lowers Compressor Operating Costs and Improves System Performance

Significantly Reduce Air/Oil Separator Size With New Media Technology From Donaldson

MINNEAPOLIS, May 30 - Donaldson Company, Inc., today introduced Formix(tm) Media Technology, specifically designed for air/oil separation in industrial compressor applications. Donaldson's Formix Media Technology utilizes a new generation of coalescing media that delivers high efficiency system capability while reducing operating costs and energy consumption.

Used by equipment manufacturers, the unique structural design and separation properties of Formix Media Technology cause small drops of oil from a compressor air stream to coalesce, and collect, in a common area. Once the oil is collected, it is then re-injected back into the compressor. A separator using Formix Media Technology is more efficient than traditional pleated or wrapped separators, significantly lowering the cost of oil consumption over time.

"This new media technology will help secure Donaldson's leadership position in the industrial compressor market," said Mike Casey, general manager in the Compressor Products Group, Donaldson Company.

Formix Media Technology's seamless construction provides structural strength for extreme operating conditions in industrial manufacturing settings. It uses less energy to deliver overall improved system efficiency and performance. Air/oil separators using Formix Media Technology can be designed to be significantly smaller than separators using existing conventional media.

Donaldson's Formix Media Technology comes in a variety of shapes and configurations designed for air/oil separators for industrial compressors. Due to its smaller size and form flexibility, freight, storage and disposal costs for separators with Formix Media Technology are significantly lower than wrapped or pleated separators. These separators can also be made to fit in a variety of shapes and sizes providing optimal use of the compressor's separator housing.
