Reduced Load To ESP Collector Significantly Extends Service Intervals.
CINCINNATI, OH - December 11, 2003 - Development of an all new mist stop coalescing filter for SH and SHN Series industrial oil smoke and coolant mist air cleaners is announced by United Air Specialists, Inc. (UAS). A combination of 1-in. heavy duty aluminum mesh and a 2-in. high efficiency coalescing pad, the SHN Series Mist Stop Filter removes 99% of oil smoke and coolant mist pollutants before reaching the unit's standard electrostatic ESP collection component which filters up to 98% of the remaining pollutants. The new SHN Mist Stop Filter reduces the load to the ESP section extending the filter cleaning cycle to two to three months from the typical one-month interval. Pressure drop with the new filter is 0.75-in. w.g. at nominal airflow. SH and SHN Series Mist Collectors were previously marketed by UAS under the Smog-Hog® Mist Collector brand name.
Developed over several years in conjunction with UAS OEM customers, the SHN Mist Stop Filter is specifically designed to coalesce and efficiently remove oil and coolant droplets and mists immediately before the ESP collection component that electrostatically charges and collects all remaining mist and smoke particles, regardless of size. The new filter design, which utilizes washable media mounted in a metal frame, is available on new UAS SH and SHN Series Mist Collectors and as a retrofit to existing SH units with an oil impingement filter. Soaking in a non-foaming degreaser for several hours, then let to dry before replacement, easily cleans the new filter.
SH and SHN Series Mist Collectors from United Air Specialists also collect recyclable coolants and oils for reuse. The result is continuous discharge of safe, breathable air back into the workplace.
