Original Press Release:

The New CO2 Measuring System from Mettler-Toledo Ingold - Designed for the Specific Needs of Fermentation Control

Mettler-Toledo Ingold introduces a new measuring system for dissolved carbon dioxide, consisting of the InPro5000 CO2 sensor and the 5100e CO2 transmitter. This system is designed for in-situ measurement in bioreactors during fermentation. The InPro5000 sensor is fully sterilizable either in-situ or in an autoclave. Bacterial fermentation yield is highly influenced by a proper control of the CO2 partial pressure. In cell culture applications mammalian cells need environmental conditions within a narrow range for optimal survival and growth.

The InPro5000 CO2 sensor can be installed in nearly all types of bioreactors - top entry installation in small benchtop type reactors or side-entry installation with the InTrac797 retractable housing in production reactors. Each sensor has a 3.1 B and EHEDG certificate to satisfy hygienic requirements and guarantee traceability. The InPro5000 is manufactured using materials that are FDA compliant for high-level hygienic applications.

The 5100e CO2 transmitter is the newest member in Mettler-Toledo Ingold's advanced line of transmitters. Operational safety is provided through continuous sensor diagnostics. Straightforward calibration procedures offer simple operation through pictographic user interface and Sensoface®.
