Original Press Release:
Photron's New Fastcam SA3 Megapixel High Speed Imaging System
o Designed for on-board vehicle testing, the system is rugged and reliable
March 17, 2008 - San Diego, CA - Photron, Inc., a global high speed imaging system and image analysis software manufacturer, announces the Fastcam SA3, a megapixel, high speed video imaging system that is designed to withstand high-G (operation tested to 100G, 10ms, 6 axis) and rugged environments. Ideal for automotive safety testing, the new camera features 17 micron pixel size for demanding frame rate or low light applications, providing exceptional light sensitivity, image quality and color fidelity.
The new high speed, 12-bit CMOS camera system with 2-microsecond global shuttering is available in two configurations and two memory options (2GB and 4GB). Fastcam SA3 Model 60K performs at 1024 x 1024 full pixel resolution up to 1,000 frames per second (fps), and offers reduced resolution up to 60,000 fps. Model 120K operates at 1024 x 1024 full pixel resolution up to 2,000 fps, with reduced resolution up to 120,000 fps. Ideally suited for high speed impact testing and analysis, R&D and industrial high speed imaging, the SA3 is a highly stable, affordable and reliable camera system for the most demanding environments.
Photron's high performance Fastcam SA3 is easy to operate and integrate with the user-select button on the rear panel or via the Gigabit Ethernet interface. The optional RS422 remote keypad control with the built-in 5" LCD color display offers real-time monitoring capabilities during set-up, recording and playback, without requiring an attached computer.
