PMM-F CMM Offers Laboratory Precision for Shop Floor Inspection Operations
NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI--The Leitz PMM-F coordinate measuring machine available from Brown & Sharpe provides high speed, laboratory measuring precision for shop floor inspection applications.
The PMM-F CMM is designed as an enclosed gantry machine, making it easily adaptable to manual and automatic work handling systems for in-process inspection operations. Its solid granite base and two stationary granite bearing platforms create a U-shaped structure. A granite cross-section mounted on the two platforms provides X-axis movement. The rugged, compact design guarantees axis rigidity for improved accuracy.
Moving components are mounted in pre-tensioned, non-wearing air bearings with anti-seizure properties. The X-axis is fitted with drive and linear measuring systems on each side to avoid measuring errors caused by twisting, rectangularity deviations and contouring errors. Active dampening elements prevent shop floor vibrations from affecting measuring results. Servo drives with recirculating ball screws allow high acceleration for improved inspection throughout without loss of positioning precision.
High resolution, temperature resistant ZERODUR scales assure accuracy and reproducibility over a wide temperature range.
The PMM-F CMM is equipped with a patented volumetric 3D probe system that provides single point measurement and high speed scanning for form and profile measurements. It is available in two models, the 700 with a measuring range of 1200 X 1000 X 700 mm (47.24 X 39.37 X 27.55 in.) and the 1000 with a measuring range of 3000 X 2000 X 1000 mm (118.11 X 78.74 X 39.37 in.) The PMM-F CMM can be equipped with either QUINDOS® or PC-DMIS(tm) measurement and inspection software. Optional equipment includes an automatic probe changer; rotary table; and controller options such as remote trouble shooting, error memory analysis, running time meter, and temperature flow recorder.
