Original Press Release:

Securus Technologies Launches the Industry's Most Powerful Inmate Grievance Application

Securus' Grievance Application is hosted through ConnectUs, Securus' Inmate Operating System Automating and Storing Grievances for Inmates and Correctional Agencies.

DALLAS -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigations, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has launched the Grievance Application on ConnectUs.

The Grievance Application allows inmates to request and file new grievances while also allowing inmates to view grievance responses through a multi-purpose, touch screen terminal located in the housing units. The power of the Grievance Application is the flexibility and control each Correctional Agency has over the fields, responses and escalation levels. For example, Securus' Grievance Applications can offer multiple types of forms and grievances to inmates each with a customized routing process. These can include health requests, grievance requests or anonymous forms that do not require log-in activities.

Richard A. "Rick" Smith, CEO of Securus Technologies said, "Many grievance processes are all too often paper forms that inmates must fill out by hand and correctional officers must manually collect and route throughout the jail. When responses are completed, the process repeats in reverse. It's time consuming for both officers and inmates to complete. Securus' Grievance Application brings the entire process online and eliminates the time, the paper and the inconvenience, for everyone involved. We even store and track every step of the process - key to reducing liability for our Corrections customers and improving efficiency of Corrections operations. "

A cloud-based solution, the Grievance Application provides configurable escalation levels that allows inmates to appeal (escalate) their request if they are not satisfied with the initial response.

The Grievance Application joins a multitude of other applications Securus has released on ConnectUs - the industry's first inmate operating system.

Over the past several years, Securus has invested over $32 million dollars and installed over 5,000 terminals to provide inmate and correctional services through unlimited applications that expand visitation opportunities, automate inmate requests and grievances, and bring educational content online.

"If we used our grievance processing system throughout the United States and saved 15 minutes per grievance - we would save $276 million in Corrections time or $28,000 annually per facility on average- with large facilities saving $300,000 annually. Meaningful results for sure," said Smith.
