OpenPeak Debuts OpenServices Cloud-Based Device Management

First-of-its-Kind Core Service Enables Full Remote Management of Tablet and Mobile Devices for Service Providers and Enterprise Administrators

BOCA RATON, Fla. and LAS VEGAS -- CES -- OpenPeak Inc., a leading provider of multimedia touch-screen device and device management platforms, today announced the debut of its new OpenServices cloud-based device management platform that streamlines application/service deployment and management for service providers and enterprises.

Unlike traditional client-based systems, OpenServices integrates both new and legacy client devices into a cohesive ecosystem with complete remote management capability, making new service deployment and ongoing maintenance easy and efficient. With OpenServices, enterprises and service providers can push or remove apps, update firmware, change provisioning data, force reboots and perform system diagnostics all from an easy-to-use remote command center.

In addition to wireless carriers, the system may also be deployed across a wide range of other vertical platforms, including telephony services, security systems for home monitoring applications, utility providers for energy management use and healthcare monitoring services.

Along with remote device management, the OpenServices system enables a hierarchical deployment model whereby management of specific groups of devices may be delegated to enterprises and/or organizations within them.

"This unique group provisioning system delivers unprecedented ease of management and control for enterprise deployments," said Dan Gittleman, CEO of OpenPeak. "For example, with OpenServices, companies can ensure that each department or specific team has access to all the services they need, while at the same time restricting access to non-business-related apps and services on corporate-owned devices as needed. Not only does this improve productivity and efficiency, but it also reduces the risk of a security breach as a result of questionable apps on individual devices."

For service providers, this remote deployment and management feature ensures customers always have the most up-to-date services, apps and software at their disposal with automatic deployment of updates and new releases, rather than relying on end users to download and install these themselves. This affords a more satisfying user experience and streamlines troubleshooting by assuring that each device is running the latest version of software and apps and by providing service reps with remote access to the list of installed apps for technical support purposes.

OpenServices enables providers and enterprises to define campaigns, or designated sequences of operations, and schedule deployment to occur at specific times across designated groups of devices. Built-in parental and departmental controls also allow parents and device administrators to define "private cloud" settings that determine what apps can be accessed by which users and on what devices.

"OpenServices is truly a mutual benefit for both the provider and the end user, ensuring that devices and services are kept up to date for a better user experience, while preventing undesirable or risky behavior that might jeopardize security or operational performance," Gittleman said.

For even greater flexibility and management ease, the OpenServices platform may be paired with OpenPeak's up-coming OpenShop(TM) white label application store, the first truly open marketplace for Android apps. Set to launch in early 2011, OpenShop provides a versatile, yet customizable, app shop and deployment platform with enhanced support for tablet devices. With this combination, enterprises could provide an OpenShop app store for employees, affording access to only business productivity apps on corporate devices and keep them up to date through OpenServices device management.
