CLIPSTER® Accelerates Workflows at Nordisk Film ShortCut

Nordisk Film ShortCut expands its infrastructure with CLIPSTER® from DVS. The DI workstation enables real-time RAW workflows and high-speed DCI Mastering - delivering a significant increase in speed, reliability and flexibility for Nordisk's workflows.
Hanover. Three DI workstations CLIPSTER® from DVS are now enriching the workflows at Nordisk Film ShortCut, a subsidiary of the renowned film company Nordisk Film. After the first two CLIPSTER® systems perfectly complemented the infrastructure in Copenhagen, Nordisk has also been using a third DI workstation in Oslo since the beginning of the year, paving the way for digital cinema in Norway. At the same time, Nordisk ensures its workflows are future-proof by using CLIPSTER®.

Nordisk, headquartered in Copenhagen, is the oldest film company in the world. At the end of 2010, it was confronted with two challenges: First, all the film material for Norway needed to be made available in DCP format within a very short timeframe as Norwegian cinemas were about to go digital. Moreover, the workflow had to be expandable anytime for adding further systems.

The DI workstation's open interfaces allowed it to be seamlessly integrated into Nordisk's existing system architecture, giving the film company enormous flexibility. In addition, CLIPSTER® significantly accelerates the post production process: a feature-rich and powerful DI solution, the DVS system meets the most demanding requirements such as real-time RAW workflows. It combines RAW data from RED® and ARRI ALEXA cameras with other file and video formats, providing a flexible workflow for data processing.

Even generating encrypted data packages at high speed is easy with CLIPSTER®, as the DI workstation handles all the steps of the DCI Mastering process from the DSM (Digital Source Master) to the DCP (Digital Cinema Package). CLIPSTER® manages everything in one single system thus making the time-consuming process of transferring data between several components a thing of the past. As it is possible to check the completed DCP for key parameters directly using CLIPSTER®, editors at Nordisk Film can conduct quality checks quickly and reliably. Even final acceptance by customers is made considerably easier as a result.

Ivan Schmidt, Technical Manager at Nordisk: "We were so impressed with CLIPSTER® right from the outset that we immediately decided to invest in a second and then in a third DI workstation. Thanks to the DVS solution, we now benefit from more efficient workflows. At the same time, we are best equipped for the future as CLIPSTER® is continually being updated to meet the latest market developments."
Ernst-Joerg Oberhoessel, Sales Director Region Western Europe at DVS: "We have been working closely with Nordisk Film for a long time now. We are delighted to offer them a vital contribution to their workflows once again with CLIPSTER®. Besides real-time RAW workflows, our DI workstation also enables high-speed DCI and HD Mastering at Nordisk."
