New Clip-on System Provides Safe, Convenient Heat Sink Attachment
Norwood, MA, November 1, 2005 - Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc. (ATS) has introduced the MaxiGRIP(TM) attachment system for mounting heat sinks to flip chips, BGAs, and other hot PCB components. The MaxiGRIP system features a plastic frame clip that snaps securely around a component's perimeter. A stainless steel spring clip runs though the heat sink's fin field and fastens securely to the plastic frame. As a result, the sink is mounted securely to the component with steady, even pressure. The spring clip is easily removed to allow a heat sink to be detached and re-attached. The frame clip is also removable.
The MaxiGRIP system provides reliable attachment on vertically-mounted components and devices exposed to shock and vibration. The complete system is very low profile, allowing use in restricted spaces. Unlike alternative screw-on attachment systems there is no chance of over- or under-tightening the sink to the processor's surface. Heat transfer from the hot processor to the heat sink is optimized and continuous. Thermal resistance performance is superior to that of pin fin or disc type heat sinks. ATS can also provide a thermal interface pad material to enhance heat flow across the interface between the component and the heat sink.
The MaxiGRIP system is compliant with NEBS standards. Parts are available for a wide range of heat sink brands and sizes. Prices for the clip-on system are below $8.00 in production quantities.
