ClearCube Announces Industry's First Virtual Private Network-Enabled Zero Client

Company launches beta program for new zero client; corporate and government employees now have the ability to securely access company networks from home and while traveling

AUSTIN - ClearCube Technology, the leader in virtual desktop products for cloud computing, rack mounted secure workstations and blade PCs, today announced the availability of a new virtual private network (VPN)-enabled zero client with PCoIP technology - the Cloud Desktop 9520. The new zero client will enable secure remote access to VMware View(TM) virtual desktops.

As more enterprises and government agencies are adopting telecommuting and teleworkers as a viable solution to saving money and reducing the overall physical footprint of the organization, the ability for remote and traveling employees to securely connect to their desktops is extremely critical. The first-to-market ClearCube Cloud Desktop 9520 offers a very secure, simple and affordable way to connect to a corporate desktop. Employees now have access to a VMware View virtual desktop or blade PC with the same network and document shares, allowing them to complete tasks as if they were sitting in the office. The ClearCube VPN-enabled zero client doesn't have an operating system or local storage; therefore, corporate data is securely stored in the data center - ensuring that sensitive company information is never compromised.

"Companies are looking to desktop virtualization as a way to enable secure, flexible remote and telework environments for their employees, especially at the federal government level," said Raj Mallempati, director, product marketing, End-User Computing, VMware. "We're excited to work with ClearCube to offer these organizations an embedded VPN solution to connect to VMware View(TM) virtual desktops and benefit from the low maintenance, simplicity and security of a zero client."

ClearCube's comprehensive line of VMware Ready(TM) zero clients, and now the CD9520, seamlessly connects to VMware View virtual machines and offer numerous benefits including:

o Hardened physical and data security

o High availability and uptime

o Dramatically reduced operating costs up to 40%

o Improved work environment with enhanced thermal and noise characteristics

"The emerging market need for a VPN-enabled zero client is undeniable. Customers have been asking for a zero client that will not only allow employees to work remotely, but one that will also offer the security and availability they have come to expect from ClearCube," said Randy Printz, CEO, ClearCube Technology. "The question that we hear over and over is that most businesses want to go virtual but don't know how to go virtual with their remote employees while keeping their data secure. I am pleased to announce the launch of the beta program for our newest zero client solution that will provide organizations with a very simple and secure way to deploy VMware virtual desktops in lieu of costly or less secure thin clients or traditional desktops."

ClearCube is targeting support for most major Cisco and Juniper virtual private network (VPN) products.
