Press Release Summary:
Housed in 1.2 x 1.2 mm WCSP package, Model TPA2011D1 delivers 3.2 W into 4 W at 5 V with no audible pop. Device is equipped with integrated DAC noise filter, which minimizes out-of-band noise and provides low-pass cutoff frequency of 130 kHz, which could eliminate need for external filter on inputs. With quiescent current of 1.5 mA, amplifier optimizes battery efficiency and maximizes battery life in mobile phones and portable media players.
Original Press Release:
TI Introduces the Smallest Class-D Audio Amplifier for Portable Devices
Low-noise, high-efficiency amp supports louder audio, smaller size and lower power use
DALLAS, -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today introduced a 3.2-W, mono Class-D audio amp with an integrated digital-to-analog converter (DAC) noise filter that reduces codec noise by as much as 82 percent, compared to devices without this feature. The TPA2011D1's integrated noise filter could eliminate the need for an external filter on the inputs, reducing component count and cost. The Class-D amplifier's 1.2-mm x 1.2-mm package size makes it 25 percent smaller than competing devices, further saving space for designers who are looking for 0.4-mm pitch for next-generation mobile phones and portable media players. Key features and benefits of the TPA2011D1
-- 3.2-W into 4 Ohms at 5 V produces 22 percent louder audio than competing solutions with no audible pop, a common challenge in portable devices.
-- Integrated DAC noise filter reduces DAC out-of-band noise by 82 percent for clearer sound. The integrated image reject filter provides a low-pass cutoff frequency of 130 kHz, which could eliminate the need for an external filter on the inputs for lower component count and cost.
-- The 1.2-mm x 1.2-mm, 0.4-mm pitch 9-ball wafer chip scale package (WCSP) saves board space and simplifies design.
-- 1.5-mA quiescent current results in 50 percent lower power than other amplifiers for higher battery efficiency and improved battery life.
Availability and pricing
The TPA2011D1 is available now in a 1.2-mm x 1.2-mm, 0.4-mm pitch, 9-ball WCSP and is priced at $0.85 in 1,000-unit quantities. Additional members of the TPA2011D1 family, the TPA2037D1 and the TPA2039D1, are also available for sampling and production now.
