Power Analog Microelectronics Delivers Full 3W Filter-Free Low EMI Class-D Audio Amplifier for Portable Applications

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 3 /-- Power Analog Microelectronics (PAM), a developer of innovative Class-D digital audio amplifiers and high- power LED display driver semiconductors, today introduces its 3rd generation of patent pending "filter-free" Class-D audio amplifiers.

This announcement coincides with the opening of the 13th Annual International IC China (IIC-China) Exhibition and Conference, held in Shenzhen, China. The PAM8303D, a single channel 3W audio amplifier, is the latest addition to PAM's Class D family of products. It can deliver 3W into a 4 Ohm load, and employs a unique filter-free architecture that has inherently lower EMI than competing products. In fact, not only do the parts pass the FCC Class B standard, but the EMI is 10dB lower than the standard for frequencies up to 1000MHz, which covers most cellular phone frequency ranges. Its efficiency is higher than 90% with an 8-ohm load. Only one input coupling capacitor per channel is needed in the external circuit. The PAM8303D is available in a 9-ball WCSP, MSOP-8 and DFN 3x3 8-pin packages. It is fully Pb free and compatible with RoHS. PAM8303D is ideal for applications such as cell-phones, MP3/MP4, PMP, GPS navigators, and portable-game machines.

"Manufacturers of mobile devices, such as cell-phones, are constantly seeking solutions with the lowest possible EMI to mitigate radio transmission interference. Until recently the existing class-D solutions in the market have proven insufficient in resolving these EMI concerns," said Michael Hu, PAM's Director of Marketing. "Furthermore, today's cellphone, using small internal speakers, demands excellent, crisp sound quality delivered at power levels of up to 3w. The PAM8303D is specifically designed to satisfy all these requirements."

The PAM8303D will be showcased and demonstrated at PAM's booth at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center located in Main Hall 2, number 2F45.
