Clariant Showcases Innovative Emulsifier for Metalworking Formulations at STLE 2012

volatility
Charlotte, N.C. - Here at the STLE (Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers) 2012 Annual Meeting & Exhibition, booth #215, Clariant is highlighting the newest addition to its broad portfolio of high-performance components and additives for cutting and forming fluids. Clariant Emulsogen® MTP 070, a nonionic emulsifier for metalworking, offers security of supply worldwide, notable performance benefits and protection for users and the environment. Emulsogen MTP 070 allows formulators to make extremely stable emulsions for metalworking fluids with lower foam tendencies.
In addition, at STLE Clariant is providing information about its exceptionally large and diverse portfolio, which offers formulators a convenient, single source of supply. Clariant components and additives deliver consistent quality from batch to batch and location to location, and are supported by a wealth of product and application development resources - in particular, Clariant Competence Centers located around the world.
"Global supply security is very important to our customers," said James Stephens, Clariant business line manager for Industrial Lubricants. "We're pleased to announce that in contrast to traditional emulsifiers, the chemical backbone of our new Emulsogen MTP 070 is based on raw materials that are readily available on every continent. Further, our rigorous quality control processes ensure that formulators and their end customers can count on the same quality and properties no matter where they are procuring or using the product."
Emulsogen MTP 070 emulsifier, which is based on a fatty alcohol of vegetable origin, provides excellent solubility in all types of mineral and vegetable oils. The product's outstanding low foaming properties, as well as high lime soap dispersion power, set it apart from the competition. Thanks to its high thermal stability and low residue formation, Emulsogen MTP 070 is highly suitable for rolling fluids.
In terms of safety, Emulsogen MTP 070 has an excellent toxicological profile and is non-irritating to the eyes and skin. It is readily biodegradable and harmless to aquatic environments.
Broad Portfolio for Cutting and Forming Fluids
Clariant is one of the leading suppliers of high-performance additives and
components for cutting and forming fluids, offering a comprehensive range

polyol and complex esters and EO/PO copolymers is a powerful
toolbox for formulating aqueous and oily fluids, as well as all kinds of
emulsions. Besides providing the desired lubrication of the final
product, Hostagliss® and Genapol® products are easy to handle and
formulate.
and forming fluids: These nonionic and anionic products, trademarked
mainly as Emulsogen and Genapol, are tailor-made to provide the
characteristics required of cutting and forming fluids.
corrosion inhibitors comprises products for formulating all kinds of
cutting and forming fluids. Excellent anti-corrosion results can be
achieved, even under challenging conditions. The recommended
products are free of nitrites. Both boron/DEA-containing and
boron/DEA-free products are available.
Hostaphat® phosphoric acid esters enhance cutting and forming fluid by
providing protection under extreme friction, especially when combined
with Hostagliss products - the perfect solution to replace chlorinated
paraffins.
