Clariant Performance Packaging to Exhibit and Present at CPhI Worldwide in Madrid

Muttenz - The Swiss specialty chemicals group Clariant will have a major presence at CPhI Worldwide in Madrid, October 9-11. At booth#10F78, Performance Packaging, a member of Clariant's Functional Materials business unit, will spotlight its broad portfolio of desiccant canisters for moisture control in pharmaceutical packaging and its innovative IDC® Integrated Desiccant Closure, a pharmaceutical cap combining tamper-evident, child-resistant and twist-off functionalities with a built-in desiccant. Further, Valère Logel, head of development for Performance Packaging, will give a conference presentation entitled, "Your Drug Environment Under Control," on October 10 at 10 a.m. Performance Packaging is a global leader in the design and manufacture of controlled atmosphere packaging solutions.

In addition to canisters and the IDC, Clariant will exhibit its Advanced Desiccant Polymer (ADP®), which is used to create active healthcare packaging and device components by integrating desiccant directly into thermoplastics. Other featured solutions will include Oxy-Guard® barrier bottles, which effectively block oxygen ingress by a factor of 100 compared to regular bottles, Handy Active Tubes® with a convenient flip-top cap and built-in desiccant, and PharmaKeep® humidity-neutral oxygen absorbers.

Logel's presentation will explain why standard desiccants may not meet the needs of today's novel drugs and diagnostic systems for a controlled package atmosphere. He will describe new solutions that ensure an accurate humidity range to avoid extreme changes inside the packaging. Logel is an expert in product design and packaging.

Logel has a master degree in polymer engineering and has been the head of development for Performance Packaging since 2005. An expert in product design and engineering, he has lead the market introduction of innovative packaging solutions for moisture control, oxygen adsorption and multi-layer polymer barriers.
