New Bosch Circular Saws Cut Downtime

Innovative and feature-laden circular saws prove effective in reducing downtime on the jobsite

Mount Prospect, Ill., January 19, 2004 -Bosch Power Tools and Accessories, a division of the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation, today unveils a new line of lightweight circular saws designed to suit professionals' varying needs. The two new lightweight Bosch saws, the CS10 and CS20, establish new standards in jobsite performance and durability.

These saws are packed with features designed to meet the needs of a myriad of professionals including framers, roofers, deck builders, remodelers and carpenters, historically all of which are extremely particular and loyal to the type of circular saw they use. Professionals will quickly notice that these saws cut downtime, reduce fatigue and improve jobsite productivity.

The number one complaint about circular saws on the jobsite is the footplate. Addressing this need, Bosch designed the new saws with a composite foot that withstands the abuse they take everyday. Bosch engineered the rugged composite footplate to outperform the competition by withstanding a one-story drop, resist bending under pressure, and glide easily across all surfaces, including wet wood. The footplate ensures that professionals no longer need to worry that their tool will break under pressure.

Many innovative features make these saws stand out from the competition, guarantee long-lasting endurance and ensure a rapid speed of cut. A 15 Amp motor makes these saws one of the most powerful on the market, which is enhanced by the lightweight magnesium upper and lower guards. Not only does this ensure superior balance, it also allows for a faster speed of cut due to the ideal power-to-weight ratio.

In addition to power and durability, Bosch also addressed saw efficiency before bringing this tool to jobsites. Such new features as detent systems, blowers and rafter hooks make these saws stand out in the competitive marketplace. The new CS10 and CS20 are the first in the category to include a depth detent system, which helps professionals improve accuracy of their cuts. A clear and easy-to-read bevel scale and positive detent system allow users to quickly find detents at such common angles as 22.5 and 45 degrees, and adjustable levers ensure a tight, locked bevel for fine tuning. Finally, Bosch engineered each saw to handle a maximum bevel of 56-degrees for steep pitch cuts.

Bosch integrated a powerful blower and patent-pending quadrant designed system to quickly remove sawdust and ensure a clear line of sight. Not only does the blower remove dust and enhance the view; the user also benefits from an unobstructed site line due to better motor placement. Additionally, professionals will appreciate the blower for its ability to eliminate debris on the jobsite.

The CS20 comes equipped with additional features including a convenient rafter hook, the first ever on a lightweight circular saw, to provide easy stowage between cuts; a rafter angle chart molded onto the housing of the tool; and Direct Connect(TM), the world's first universal professional cord management system. Direct Connect ensures that cord damage no longer means the end of the workday because of its two distinct features that prevent damage to the cord and provide reassurance that the tool will run without issue. The exclusive patent-pending 180-degree cord channel reduces cord stress while the cord-lock mechanism secures the cord into position. Because of its thorough design, users can work more efficiently with this system, which eliminates end-plug snagging on sheet material, ladders and floor joists.

Both the CS10 and CS20 come equipped with a contractor tool bag and a newly designed 24-tooth patented C3 Dyanite Carbide blade, which stays sharp up to five times longer than standard carbide and has improved fracture toughness. These blades are exclusive to Bosch and contain a blue anti-friction coating that improves the speed of cut and resists pitch/gum build up. The 7-1/4-inch thin kerf blade has body slots, expansion slots and AKB shoulder.
