Based in Columbus, Indiana, Kaltenbach, Inc. introduces at Fabtech 2007 a new chapter in circular sawing machinery for exhaust manufacturing. The KKS450 'R' builds on the worldwide reputation for performance with reliability established by the company's KKS400H models, but takes cutting speed and surface finish to a new dimension. Furthermore, the 'R' includes as standard all the common options specified by Kaltenbach's many existing customers in the exhaust sector.
The completely re-designed table is machined from 3" thick plate, for maximum rigidity and to facilitate location of jigs/fixtures commonly employed in automotive applications. Optionally, Kaltenbach can build the machine with a pre-drilled table in several common patterns, or to user specification, at minimal extra cost. An adjustable long-stroke top clamp with electronic relief adjustment and a 2nd work height position make for easy unloading/loading of components and ultra-short cycle times. Specific attention was focused on reducing non-productive cycle to the absolute minimum. As a result, the KKS450 'R' is the fastest exhaust sawing machine available.
One critical area often overlooked in the design of cell-manufacturing machinery is ease of operation. In this case, there is no need for concern: all machine movements are via push-button and full stroke; blade peripheral speed is electronically adjustable thanks to a frequency-regulated main motor and Kevlar toothed belt drive; blade feed is fully hydraulic with precision setting - for excellent repeatability. An environment-friendly, micro-lube coolant system delivers lubricant direct to the cutting edges of the blade, below the table for superb lubrication without the mess associated with flood systems.
For maximum operator safety the KKS450 'R' employs standard two-palm controls, mounted on a unit which is adjustable from left to right on the machine - to suit prevailing conditions. Additionally, the machine comes with an interlocked safety hood, which can be removed to accommodate pre-bent tube shapes (CAUTION: blade guard may be required for OSHA compliance).
