New PolySwitch® RHE Devices Rated for Higher Ambient Temperatures in Automotive and Industrial Circuit Protection Applications
MENLO PARK, CA-October 4, 2002- Tyco Electronics announces two new Raychem Circuit Protection PolySwitch® devices for industrial and commercial electronics applications. The new PolySwitch RHE400 and RHE 1500 resettable devices are used to help protect equipment from downstream short circuits, overcurrent faults, and other power faults.
The radial-leaded RHE400 and RHE1500 devices are available with hold currents of 4.0A and 15.A respectively. They are designed for a maximum fault current of 100A, and can be used in ambient temperatures of up to 125°C. AHR versions of these products will be available for automotive applications that require qualification to the AEC-Q200 specification.
"This product line expansion gives designers the ability to provide resettable overcurrent protection in higher temperature environments, " said Karin Kinsman, R-Line Product Manager for Raychem Circuit Protection. "Their higher temperature capability leads to another advantage in their ability to provide high current-carrying capacity with a flatter thermal derating curve than other devices. This flatter thermal derating can be a benefit in lower temperature applications where there is a tighter restriction on the ratio of the trip to hold currents over a large temperature range," she added.
PolySwitch RHE400 and RHE1500 devices are UL, CSA, and TUV certified and are available in straight-lead or kinked-lead configurations in bulk packaging, ammo pack, or tape and reel for compatibility with high-volume manufacturing.
