New Circuit Protection Device from Rockwell Automation Meets North American and IEC Standards



Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1489 circuit protector with 240 and 480 volt branch circuit protection and equipment protection saves engineering time and can help meet safety standards

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 20, 2005 - The new UL Listed Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1489 circuit protection device from Rockwell Automation provides 240 and 480 volt branch circuit protection and equipment protection that complies with North American and European standards. This circuit breaker also is approved by CSA to Canadian standards and by VDE to IEC standards.

"For today's OEMs building machines to be used throughout the world, the new Bulletin 1489 helps with compliance with the varied circuit protection requirements," said Jon Phillips, product manager, Rockwell Automation. In North America, the Bulletin 1489 meets UL 489 and CSA 22.2 No. 5.1 standards for branch circuit protection as well as IEC 60 947-2 requirements for miniature circuit breakers used in international industrial applications. To address the needs of equipment protection that are installed in electrical control panels, the new device helps with the equipment protection circuit formally only associated with UL 1077. It provides users with circuit protection from 0.5 amps to 40 amps and up to 480 volts.
