Bel Offers Circuit Protection for Tip & Ring Applications in Space-Saving SIP Modules

Compact Devices Comply with Telecommunications Industry's Surge Requirements While Providing Superior Design Flexibility

Jersey City, NJ, April 21, 2003...Bel, a premier developer of magnetic-based solutions for networking and computing applications and fuses, today released the new SIP circuit protection modules. These integrated devices combine fuses, overvoltage protectors and resistor networks into a vertical mount, SIP configuration to conserve PCB real estate, optimize manufacturing throughput, and accelerate time-to-market. Designed for the broadest range of telecom applications, the modules feature Bel's 1.25 A SMP fuses which comply with the Power Cross test requirements UL 1950/60950, along with Telcordia/Bellcore GR-1089 for Tip and Ring protection. As they additionally withstand lightning surges specified in FCC 47, Part 68, devices are ideal for lightning surge withstand and power cross protection of telecom circuits requiring low current protection with high surge tolerance.

Bel's new SIP modules further provide unsurpassed flexibility as they are customizable to accommodate a variety of voltage protection schemes, and may be confidently specified for use in xDSL applications, analog and digital line cards, together with T1/El interface circuits. Among the wide array of products in which SIPs can also be employed are ISDN and analog telephones, answering machines, fax machines, modems and central office switchers designed for use in both Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) or Central Office (CO) locations.

Packaged on ceramic substrate, the circuit protection devices are offered standard in 4-channel and 2-channel designs measuring 2.250" (L) x 0.460" (W) x 0.493" (H), and 1.125" (L) X 0.460" (W) X 0.493" (H) respectively. The Bel surface mount SMP fuses integrated in the modules are UL Component Recognized (File E20624) for 1.25 A rating at 600 VAC/125 VDC, and feature a power cross rating of 600 VAC at 2.2, 7, 40 and 60 A. Fuses further boast lightning withstand ratings of 100 A, 1000 V, 10x 1000 waveform, 100 repetitions; 500 A, 2500 V, 2x10 waveforms, 40 repetitions; 500 A., 5000 V, 2x10 waveform, 4 repetitions. They feature an operating temperature range of -50°C to +125°C.

Prices for SIP circuit protection modules start at $10.00 each in production quantities.

Delivery is from stock to 12 weeks.
