Circuit Protection Diodes provide high power dissipation.

Press Release Summary:

Transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes suppress over voltage transients induced by EFT, inductive load switching, and lightning. Product line consists of 500, 600, and 1,000 W TVS diodes in surface mount DO-214AA packages with breakdown voltages ranging from 5-185 V and 500, 600, and 1,500 W TVS diodes in axial leaded packages with breakdown voltages ranging from 5-440 V. Both ranges are offered in bi- and uni-directional protection configurations.

New Circuit Protection Avalanche Diode Line Provides High Power Dissipation in Smaller Packages

DES PLAINES, Illinois, May 7, 2003 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:LFUS) is now offering an extensive line of transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes designed to suppress over voltage transients induced by EFT, inductive load switching and lightning for use in automotive, telecom, industrial and computer applications. These devices offer very high power dissipation capabilities in compact envelopes even at ranges above 1500W, where larger package sizes and fewer product choices used to limit design options. The line consists of:

o 500 W, 600 W, 1000 W TVS diodes in surface mount DO-214AA (SMB) packages with breakdown voltages in the range 5-185 V

o 500 W, 600 W and 1500 W TVS diodes in axial leaded packages with breakdown voltages in the range of 5 V to 440 V

Both ranges are available in bi-directional and uni-directional protection configurations and have low clamping ratios compared to other protection options. Other key performance metrics include low reverse leakage current and nanosecond transient response times. These semiconductor devices are produced by Littelfuse in their own fabrication facility using proven glass passivation techniques for enhanced reliability and performance.

The TVS diode range is an important addition to the already extensive range of overvoltage protection devices offered by Littelfuse ranging from Gas Discharge Tubes, Thyrsitor protectors, TVS diode arrays, Metal Oxide Varistors, Multi Layer Varistors and ESD sensitive Polymer.
