Rockwell Automation Introduces New Space-Saving Line of Circuit Breakers Approved for North American Applications

MILWAUKEE, Nov. 24, 2003 - To help users cost-effectively meet North American electrical standards and conserve panel space, Rockwell Automation introduces the new line of Allen-Bradley® Bulletin 1492-MC circuit breakers. While providing advanced branch circuit protection, the 1492-MC circuit breakers offer superior product configuration in a space-saving design that is simple to install and maintain. The 1492-MC circuit breakers are designed to meet the requirements of UL489 and CSA 22.2 No. 5.1, and include GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) and GFEP (Ground Fault Equipment Protector) products.

Ideal for applications that require branch circuit protection complying with UL and CSA standards, the 1492-MC circuit breakers may be sized to protect wiring and associated equipment from 10 to 100 amps at 120/240 volts and 240 volts. Measuring only 100 mm in height with many sizes only one-half inch wide, the compact size of the Bulletin 1492-MC circuit breakers conserves valuable panel space, allowing users to incorporate more components into a single cabinet.

These DIN-rail-mounted devices allow manufacturers to protect their branch circuits in industrial control applications and follow the requirements of the National Electric Code, Underwriters Laboratories, Canadian Standards Association, and other codes and regulations with branch circuit breaker protection.

The GFCI and GFEP products are designed to UL943 and UL1053 (CSA 22.2 No.144) specifications and provide personnel protection (5 ma) and equipment protection (30 ma) to the standards of UL and CSA.

In addition to the 1492-MC circuit breakers, the Allen-Bradley family of circuit breakers includes the Bulletin 1492-SPU miniature circuit breakers that provide branch circuit protection and are listed to meet the requirements of UL489 for U.S. applications and CSA 22.2 No. 5.1 for Canadian applications. The 1492-SPU products offer sizes ranging from 0.5 A through 20 A to provide closer protection of equipment for currents below 10 A.
