New Generation Chuck-Change(TM) System Reduces Set-Up and Provides Maximum Scheduling Flexibility

CINCINNATI, OH (September 3, 2002) - Positrol, Inc. introduces the newest evolution of the Chuck-Change(TM) System, offering greater rigidity and accuracy, with the added capability of using push to actuate power chucks.

Specifically designed for multiple workholding changeovers on an individual machine, the Chuck-Change System reduces setup for small lot runs and enables maximum scheduling flexibility for just-in-time inventory.

The Chuck-Change System increases machining utilization by allowing chuck changes in minutes. Designed and engineered to mount on most machine spindles, the special system receiver with a drawtube connection becomes an integral part of the machine spindle. The system adapters are then fitted to the range of workholding devices needed for the product mix. With this receiver/adapter system, changeovers can be performed in four simple steps: 1) Release cams, 2) Push release button, 3) Rotate device counter-clockwise, and 4) Remove the workholding device from the receiver.

The system can be installed on lathes, grinders, gear hobs, and machining centers. The machine's existing cylinder and full drawtube capacity is maintained without alteration. It adapts to most manual or power chucks, utilizing a full range of standard and special workholding devices.

Receivers are in stock for 6" and 8" spindles. Positrol stocks most commonly used chuck adapters, as well, and will make others to order.

Positrol workholding devices are designed to withstand cutting forces generated in production machining while maintaining extraordinary accuracy. The wide array of chuck and arbor designs offers great flexibility for tailoring maximum machining efficiency and workpiece accuracy.
