CHEP, Revelation Software Concepts' Rev-Trac Maintain Productivity During Simultaneous SAP®ERP Application-Based Upgrades, Implementations of SAP NetWeaver® BI

ATLANTA, April 23 -- Revelation Software Concepts Pty Ltd (RSC), an SAP® Software Partner, today announced its Rev-Trac® change management solution has enabled CHEP®, the global leader in pallet and container pooling services, to carry out an extensive, dual project updating its asset management system across regions with no disruptions of core business processes. The project has involved standardizing the extensive, SAP® ERP application-based system across twelve countries, with simultaneous implementations of the SAP NetWeaver® Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI) component of the SAP NetWeaver platform. The multi-system IT modifications have not disrupted CHEP's transaction flows of more than a million line items per week.
CHEP manages an ever-moving, worldwide inventory of 280 million shipping pallets and containers, serving an international base of over 300,000 companies, many of them household names. Despite the project's extensive nature, disruptions to CHEP's transaction-intensive core business processes could not be tolerated because downtime would directly impact revenues. CHEP creates around a billion sales orders per year, billing for its services every night of the year. More than 100,000 billing documents are generated per month, some with 30,000 or more line items each.
"With tens of thousands of customers and over a million transactions processed regularly each week, we required the enhanced change management that Rev-Trac provided for this project," said Susan Cannington, production integration and infrastructure project manager at CHEP. "Rev-Trac has allowed us to manage the changes instead of the transports, so we're much more efficient. No transports get lost or out of sequence, all changes are fully tested and normal business is not disrupted in the process."

In the CHEP project, Rev-Trac manages change as five teams with experience with SAP NetWeaver upgrade or implement applications in directly affected SAP solution-based systems, including:
o A highly customized SAP application to manage CHEP's extensive,
constantly changing data on inventory locations and asset movements
o Multi-regional standardization to the SAP ERP application-based
business information system that made CHEP's geographically extensive
flow of assets manageable and cost-efficient
As part of the work, the teams customized the sales and distribution functionality of SAP ERP and, working with SAP, modified the SAP for Automotive solution portfolio extensively in order to track details of each transaction. "Rev-Trac made it practical for us to tackle these multi-regional multi-projects -- support, rollout and upgrade -- simultaneously," noted Cannington.
