Elma Electronic's 2U Chassis Now Features 3-Slot VME64X and CPCI Backplane Options
FREMONT, California, Jan. 12, 2004 - Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products now offers 3-slot VME64x and cPCI backplane options in its 2U Type 39 horizontal chassis. The unit previously only had 4-slot VME, VME64x, and cPCI sizes and a 3-slot standard VME option.
The hard-to-find 3-slot sizes offer more flexibility of choice for designers. By using only three slots in the chassis, there is extra room in the chassis for modularity. The 3-slot backplanes allow for recessing of cards, installation of drives, a cable pass-through, and different power supply units to be used. Further, for rugged applications, there is room for rope coil isolators, dampers, etc.
The 3-slot backplanes also fit within Elma's Type 32 and Type 15 chassis, which have special considerations for cosmetic appearance. The Type 15 and 32 feature cosmetic covers with hidden screws, a powder coat scratch resistant finish, "feet" for a stand, and a modern case design.
The 2U Type 39 easily converts from rackmount to desktop versions. The chassis is fully compliant to IEEE 1101.10/.11 specifications with horizontal mounting for 6U x 160mm cards from the front and 6U x 80mm I/O cards from the rear. The Type 39 is designed to hold 1 x 3.5" HD and an optional 1 x 5.25" slim line CD, mounted horizontally. Thermally engineered for superior cooling, the chassis offers side-to-side airflow optimized for card, device, and PSU requirements.
All units are "turnkey" systems -- delivered fully assembled, wired and tested with a two-year warranty.
