Original Press Release:

TREK, INC. Introduces Charged Plate Monitor with User-Friendly Features

Model 158A to be featured at SEMICON® West for Evaluation of Ionizers in the Semiconductor Industry and other ESD-Sensitive Environments

MEDINA, N.Y. -- TREK, INC., a designer and manufacturer of high-voltage power amplifiers and high-performance electrostatic instruments, sensors and monitors, will introduce a new compact charged plate monitor with user-friendly features - Model 158A - at SEMICON® West 2013 being held July 9 - 11 in San Francisco. Visit Trek at booth #2310.

This new CPM includes a large LCD color graphic display, superior data collection & storage capability, touch screen & function key controls, and programmable start/stop voltages for +/-decay mode measurements.

This unit employs Trek's patented voltage-follower technique to provide accuracy, stability and bandwidth which surpass the capabilities of traditional field meter technology.

Model 158A was designed to address the industry's need for faster, more accurate, and more reliable air ionizer performance evaluations and enhanced data collection/storage in the semiconductor industry and in other processes and environments sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD) which includes many material handling/processing operations.

Air ionizers are utilized to mitigate the harmful effects of static charge. By utilizing Trek's Model 158A CPM to validate ionizer performance for balance and +/- decay mode operation, facility managers and process engineers will have an additional tool to help manage their ESD-sensitive processes in the semiconductor industry and in aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, defense, electronics, energy, instrumentation, materials testing, military, and powder/film processing industries.

Specifications for Model 158A include measurement range of 0 to +/-1100V DC or peak AC, large signal bandwidth of 80Hz (-3dB), accuracy of +/-0.1% (full scale) and output noise 10mV rms.

Operational versatility is enhanced by additional data collection/storage capabilities such as pre-set performance of automated tests, storage/retrieval of test data and previously defined test parameters, multiple programming options, USB memory card port for ease of data transfer, and optional barcode scanner with bluetooth technology.

The unit is compliant with IEC 61340-5-1 and ANSI/ESD STM3.1 standards.

Model 158A comes with a built-in rechargeable battery which provides approximately 6 hours of continuous usage from a full charge. Two standard sizes of ion collecting plates are available (1" and 6") and are ordered separately.

This CPM is also available as a kit which includes the monitor, one of each standard sized ion collecting plate (1" and 6"), charged plate handle, walking test adapter assembly, mini-tripod and custom carrying case.
