New Vishay Sfernice P11L Panel Potentiometer Features Long Life of 2 Million Cycles and Compact 12.5-mm Size

Economical Device Features Up to Four Modules and Linearity Down to 2 %

MALVERN, Pa. - Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced a new economical, long-life panel potentiometer featuring up to four modules and a compact 12.5-mm size.

While standard low-cost panel potentiometers reach 50,000 cycles, the P11L offers a long life of 2 million cycles. For designers, this reduces the need for replacement parts, increasing reliability and lowering maintenance costs.

The versatile panel potentiometer is optimized for CMOS amplifier gain, CMOS IC offset setting, motor speed control, and angle sensor applications in welding machines, air conditioning units, tooling machines, medical systems, X-ray equipment, trucks and tractors, and military and avionics systems.

With its 12.5-mm size, the new P11L offers designers a compact alternative to other panel potentiometers. The device's cermet element provides better stability than carbon elements, while its 1,500-VRMS dielectric strength offers greater reliability and robustness.

The P11L features up to four modules, a choice of 6-mm and 6.35-mm shaft diameters, and 29 terminal styles. The device is available with custom shafts, harness, connectors, and value-added options in accordance to drawings supplied by customers.

The Vishay Sfernice potentiometer offers a typical operating torque from 1.0 oz. to 2.1 oz. per inch, and an end stop torque of 6.8 lb. per inch. The devices provides standard resistance values of 1 kW, 5 kW, 10 kW, and 50 kW, with a contact resistance variation of 2 % or 3 W., and low TCR of ±150 ppm/°C. The P11L features a linearity of 3 %, with 2 % available.

Compliant to RoHS directive 2002/95/EC and tested in accordance to CECC41 000, the potentiometer offers an operating temperature range of - 55°C to + 125°C to ensure reliable operation even in extreme environments.

Samples and production quantities of the new P11L are available now, with lead times of four to eight weeks for larger orders.
