VCO: 1.8GHz CRO Design Now Available in a Compact Package

Z-Communications, Inc. announces a new RoHS compliant VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) model TRO1800A-LF.

The TRO1800A-LF is the first in a new line of Ceramic Resonator VCOs which saves precious board space while delivering exceptional phase noise performance.

This innovative VCO covers the frequency of 1800 MHz within a tuning voltage range of 0.5 to 4.5 Vdc while featuring a spectrally clean signal of -117 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offset. However, making the TRO1800A-LF even more attractive is its compact housing which provides nearly a 70% reduction in overall volume size in comparison to other CRO topologies.

The TRO1800A-LF is designed to deliver 4±3 dBm of output power into a 50Ω load while operating off a 5 Vdc supply and drawing typically 25 mA of current. This high performance VCO operates over the extended commercial temperature range of -40 to 85°C. The TRO1800A-LF features a typical second harmonic suppression of -10 dBc and comes in Z-COMM's standard 375 package measuring 0.375 in. x 0.375 in. x 0.12 in. It is available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements making it ideal for automated surface mount assembly and reflow.

The TRO1800A-LF is well suited for microwave radio and satellite terminal applications where space and noise performance is a premium.
