Ceramic Inserts: Cost Effective Performance


Stellram introduces two new families of ceramic inserts. The Aluminum Oxide family is designed for machining of hardened steels.

The Silicon Nitride family is designed for high speed machining of cast iron and nickel-based alloys.

Both families offer high toughness and thermal shock resistance, and represent a good alternative to carbide and CBN in specific applications.

Machining with ceramics is up to eight times more productive than carbide, at about twice the cost. Using this relationship, a user can expect up to 600% increase in parts per hour, with a 75% reduction in tooling costs.

These ceramic inserts from Stellram also perform well against competitive ceramic tooling, often scoring 20% to 30% gains in parts per edge.
