Original Press Release:

New Insulating Blanket Features Enhanced Acoustic Properties

Thermal Ceramics, a global supplier of refractory and insulation materials, announces the development of a new product for applications requiring excellent sound absorption capabilities. Cerablanket® AC2 ceramic fiber blanket combines the advantages of high temperature capability and good mechanical strength over standard mineral wool or basalt insulation materials. These features enable the Thermal Ceramics product to be used in the most demanding acoustic applications. Cerablanket AC2 is a specially produced, ceramic fiber blanket with a temperature rating of 2400°F and a recommended continuous use limit of 2150°F. It is available in 3 and 4 lb./cu. ft. densities and in thickness of 1, 1 1/2 and 2 inches. Precisely engineered to have outstanding acoustic properties, its measured airflow resistivity of 10,000 to 15,000 Rayls/m is two to four times greater than conventional high temperature insulation products. Applications for Cerablanket AC2 blanket include heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) silencers, process mufflers and sound walls. In recent tests by outside laboratories, the product has been shown to meet established thermal and acoustic specifications in the power generation industry.
