Center For Disease Control and Prevention Calls for Wire Mesh in the Fight Against Zika Virus

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has made a new plea to American's in protecting themselves against the Zika Virus: Use Wire Mesh. The CDC has warned concerned citizens that if they have open vent or plumbing pipes, which are exposed to the outside of their home,  these openings should be covered with wire cloth immediately.  The statement goes on to explain that the openings of this applied wire mesh material must be smaller than the size of an adult mosquito.  Additionally, these experts have warned that any standing container of water left outdoors that has no lid, should be covered with wire mesh screen material.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the leading national public health institute of the United States.  This agencies primary goal is to protect public health and safety through the control and prevention of disease, injury, and disability. The CDC focuses national attention on developing and applying disease control and as is this case with this call for wire mesh, disease prevention.  The agency has warned that Zika is spread mostly by the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. These mosquitoes are aggressive daytime biters. They can also bite at night.
