Leica Microsystems Presents New Accessory for the Leica EM AFS Freeze Substitution System



Leica Microsystems is pleased to announce the launch of the Leica SD FS system, a new accessory for the Leica EM AFS freeze substitution system. The SD FS is designed for the cultivation of cell monolayers in cell biology.

SD FS stands for "Sapphire Disc Freeze Substitution". The Leica SD FS unit holds up to 24 Sapphire Discs for freeze substitution after cryofixation (for example, in the Leica EM CPC). Once freeze substitution is complete, embedding in resin and UV polymerization can be performed in the Leica EM AFS using 0.5 ml polypropylene microtubes.

The SD FS system for the Leica AFS consists of:

o The Leica SD FS unit

o Sapphire discs (qty. 50)

o 0.5 microtubes (qty. 50)

o 0.5 - 10µm pipette tips (qty. 50)

o BG forceps
