CTS Wireless Components Introduces High Data Rate PCS CDMA Filter



Elkhart, IN . CTS Corporation (NYSE:CTS), an innovator in wireless handset component technology and a world leader in wireless component manufacturing, today announced the availability of a new, miniature receive filter for North American PCS (personal communication system) CDMA (code division multiple access) applications. Incorporating CTS' patented ceramic monoblock technology, the new model CER0059A filter, measures only 7mm x 5.5mm x 3.8mm, making it suitable for the most space-limited designs. It is targeted for HDR (high data rate) capable wireless modem terminals, including laptops, PDAs (personal digital assistants) and handsets utilizing CDMA lx technology, all of which are expected to ship in early 2002.

HDR capability is central to 2.5G and 3G CDMA networks that promise to deliver mobile, real-time multimedia services. Devices such as laptops and PDAs utilizing this technology, will increasingly be wireless enabled. An ever-growing number of these devices may be equipped with modems or have integrated data communications functionality. The variety of HDR devices available run the gamut from telemetry units, to point-of-sale terminals used in all facets of communication solutions. A recent Gartner Dataquest report includes an estimate of 15.1 million mobile data-only devices being shipped in 2004, generating $2.0 billion in vendor revenues. Mobile data-only devices will increase at an annual rate of 78%. Estimated vendor revenues will increase at an annual rate of 51%.

Model CER0059A was developed by an experienced CTS design engineering team and is fully supported with high-volume CTS manufacturing operations. Samples and evaluation boards are available now.
