Toronto, Canada - GAO Tek Inc. (www.GAOTek.com) has released its CATV cable fault locator utilizing Time Domain Reflection (TDR) technology to display the TDR picture on its LCD screen. It is intended to find cable faults such as short circuits, open circuits and high resistance joints and to show the exact distance of the fault. This rugged fault locator is widely used to test underground cables to discover impedance break points in HFC systems then locate and reveal the cable damages, tie-in dampness, and terminal impedance failure.

The powerful cable fault locator, model 6130, analyzes the status of the cable with its advanced analysis software. It tests cables of 25, 50, 75ohm and 100Ohm impedance at a long measurement range from 15m to 2000m. This portable cable fault locator provides an intuitive electronic map relevant to time domain picture so that faults can be detected easily. In additional, it can be connected to a PC for file upload and data analysis.
