Castell Safety Products at VPPPA Exhibition

Trapped key motion monitoring and drive away prevention systems safeguard personnel and equipment from the plant to the loading dock.

Erlanger, Kentucky (August 3, 2007) - Castell will be showcasing safety solutions for members of the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA), during the annual conference and exhibition, August 27-29, 2007 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel (Washington, DC). Castell's access interlocks and lockout/tagout equipment increase safety in virtually any type of industrial setting.

Castell's trapped key interlocks force workers to adhere to a step-by-step process every time access to dangerous equipment is needed. The BEMF motion-monitoring device guarantees that motor-driven equipment such as mixers, hammer mills and pellet mills has completely stopped before access is granted. Entrance to the equipment is immediate after reaching zero speed. The equipment cannot be restarted until personnel has safely withdrawn, then closed and locked the guard hatch.

To promote safety in loading dock areas, the Salvo Automatic Interlock System prevents trucks from making unscheduled departures during loading or unloading. The Salvo gladhand lock ensures that brakes are applied and trailer movement has stopped, before releasing a uniquely coded key. The key is inserted in an exterior control panel, which traps the key, disengages the automatic door interlock and alerts workers inside the plant that it is safe to begin loading or unloading. Until the automatic door interlock is bolted again, the control panel will not release the key needed to open the Salvo gladhand lock, making it impossible for a driver to depart.

Castell also offers padlocks, multiclasp locks, lockout bags, and storage solutions for securing circuit breakers, valves, live electrical installations and other hazardous equipment to satisfy OSHA 1910.147 compliance issues.
