Comptel Launches Fulfillment Solution for Carrier Ethernet Services

Part of the Comptel Dynamic OSS(TM) suite, solution helps service providers to capitalize on new revenue opportunities and achieve the operational cost savings offered by Carrier Ethernet

Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), the leading vendor of dynamic Operations Support System (OSS) software, today announced the launch of Comptel Fulfillment for Carrier Ethernet Services. The solution will allow Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to quickly and efficiently introduce new Carrier Ethernet-based services thus enabling them to take advantage of the cost, scale, and flexibility advantages that Carrier Ethernet offers across multi-vendor networks.

For CSPs, whether fixed, cable or mobile, Carrier Ethernet offers an attractive solution to the ongoing challenge of ever-increasing bandwidth demand and need to support converged services. Carrier Ethernet builds on the traditional strengths of Ethernet while improving its manageability, monitoring, fault analysis and scalability. Carrier Ethernet also allows CSPs to rationalize their networks, by converging access, metro, aggregation and core infrastructures onto a common technology.

According to Infonetics Research's April 2009 report entitled "Carrier Ethernet market defying downturn", the Carrier Ethernet market is expected to experience considerable growth over the next five years. Infonetics predict the market for Carrier Ethernet equipment to be worth $32 billion by 2013, up from $17 billion in 2008. The key factors driving this growth are the continued increases in demand on service provider networks and the need to converge services onto all IP Ethernet based networks for better management and cost consolidation.

Part of the Comptel Dynamic OSS(TM) suite, Comptel Fulfillment for Carrier Ethernet Services incorporates Comptel Order Management, Comptel Service Inventory and Comptel Provisioning and Activation. It supports a highly flexible approach to Carrier-Ethernet service design and build with robust, highly automated delivery capability across multi-vendor networks.

"In today's competitive and economically pressured environment, service providers must constantly seek out new ways to generate revenues and manage operational costs," said Mr Simo Saskilahti, Comptel's Executive Senior Vice President Products and Solutions. "Comptel Fulfillment for Carrier Ethernet Services is designed to enable service providers to achieve competitive advantage by efficiently rolling-out new, innovative revenue-generating services that can be delivered efficiently and more securely over multiple technology platforms."

Comptel will be exhibiting at TM Forum Management World 2009 6 - 8 May 2009, in Nice, France (stand: 88).
