Carolina Electronic Assemblers, Inc. Places Order for Large Board Line from Juki

MORRISVILLE, NC - Juki Automation Systems, a world-leading provider of automated assembly products and systems and part of Juki Corporation, announces that Carolina Electronic Assemblers, Inc. (CEA) recently purchased a FX-3 XL/KE-3020 large board line. The FX-3 XL a high-speed modular chip shooter and KE-3020 delivers high productivity and cost performance, and are capable of handling 22 x 24" boards. The new line will enable Carolina Electronics Assemblers to accommodate its growing business.

CEA President Steve Yauch commented, "The CEA team is very excited to be working with Juki as we continue to expand both our business and our capabilities. Juki has a reputation for both high-performance equipment and superior service, and we look forward to a long and prosperous partnership going forward."

Juki Automation Systems' President and CEO Bob Black commented, "All of us at Juki are very pleased that our neighbors at CEA have chosen to partner with us for their new SMT equipment needs.  Their close proximity to our HQ in Morrisville will allow us to work very closely together in future, and we look forward to announcing new facets of our cooperation in the near future."

The KE-3020 is a flexible placement machine that can place parts as small as 01005 and as large as 74 mm square and connectors up to 50 x 150 mm. It features a multi-colored lighting system that gives added flexibility for centering a wide variety of components. The KE-3020 offers an interactive and flexible user interface that gives the operator the ability to easily define the most complex element patterns. The advanced vision system of the KE-3020 allows the operator to automatically "learn" the ball or lead pattern of a component. This method is much faster and more accurate than manual data entry.

The FX-3 is a high-speed chip shooter that features two placement stations, each with two head beams. In each placement station the two heads are arranged in front of and behind each other, alternately carrying out component picking and placement. The four high-speed assembly heads each support six nozzles, giving the FX-3 a total of 24 nozzles. The component placement range on the FX-3 XL is from 01005 (0402 metric) through to 33.5 mm sq. Each head is driven by an overhead X-Y dual gantry positioning system with closed-loop independent linear servomotors and magnetic linear encoders for high accuracy. The efficient design of the FX-3 results in high-uptime and productivity.
