Carlsberg Appoints Elettric 80 to Provide Warehouse Automation Solution

Gothenburg 21 August 2007 - Elettric 80, a global provider of end-of-line automation solutions, has received an order from Carlsberg to roll out its technology at a facility in Falkenberg, Sweden. Elettric 80 will supply Carlsberg with a Laser Guided Vehicle (LGV) Storage & Retrieval System which will automate material handling. The total order value for Elettric 80 is approximately 4 million EURO.

The solution will increase operational efficiencies at the plant by automating the movement of palletized products from the production line and receiving docks. Depending on order requirements, the technology will manage the storage of pallets at the facility and ensure the transportation of product directly to the shipping docks. Elettric 80 will provide twenty-two dual pallet handling LGVs, which will complement the two single LGVs which are currently in use at the warehouse.

"Over the last few years, we have worked on improving our logistical infrastructure. When the decision was taken for the next step of efficiency improvements, to automate the end-of-line process in Falkenberg, it was natural to consider an LGV-based solution. E80 had a solution which worked for our existing facility, offering conventional block storage capabilities and the ability to store in different types of rack. In conjunction with the LGV technology, we also invest in rack solutions which enable us to maximise storage space for our range of products which cannot be stacked," says Peter Nilsson, Supply Chain Director at Carlsberg Sweden.

"This is clearly a major contract and a breakthrough for us in the Northern European beverage market. Carlsberg is a brand leader in its sector and the fact that it has chosen our logistics solution demonstrates the esteem in which our technology is held, not just in terms of the innovation we offer but also the way we work with companies to ensure that the most appropriate solution is implemented," says Mikael Renstrm, Managing Director for Swedish Elettric 80 AB, a subsidiary of Italian Elettric 80 S.p.A.
