Original Press Release:

Extra-Sharp Carbide Drill Ups Productivity More Than 50% In Precision Holemaking

Sandvik Coromant's new CoroDrill R840 Delta C drill increases holemaking productivity more than 50% over a large range of precision industrial applications. It can handle higher feed rates and substantially higher speeds than previous solid carbide drills. Suitable for metals from aluminum to super alloys, the CoroDrill Delta C is available in diameters from 0.118 to 0.787 in. (3 to 20 mm) for external cooling and 0.197 to 0.787 in. (5 to 20 mm) for internal cooling. Sandvik's Tailor Made program also makes custom drills for straight, stepped and chamfering applications.

The new R840 Delta C drill is designed with Sandvik's new bronze-colored grade GC1220 carbide. The fine-grained carbide grade features a strong multi-layer PVD coating for higher wear resistance, maximum edge security and twice the life of ordinary carbide drills. In addition, the very sharp, straight cutting edge geometry holds tighter tolerances for more accurate holemaking and reduced chip jamming. Together with Sandvik's CoroGrip high precision chucks, the productive new drill provides optimum stability and minimum runout.
