Carbide Coating lessens wear for shear bars and knives.

Press Release Summary:

Able to be applied 2 ways with thicknesses from 0.002-0.100 in., BrazeCoat(TM) is low-porosity (less than 1%) hardfacing material with carbide densities up to 70% by volume embedded in metallic matrix. Metallurgically bonded to base metal, resulting coating can achieve over 65 Rockwell C hardness values to withstand abrasive wear in high-impact applications. Actual coating particles can be tungsten carbide, chromium carbide, or combination thereof.

Original Press Release:

Shear Bars and Knives Feature Long-Wear Carbide Coating

An ultra-high density carbide coating that can be applied to shear bars (stationary knives) to improve their wear resistance and service life is available from Lund Precision Products, Inc. of Hudson, Massachusetts.

Lund BrazeCoat(TM) is an extremely dense, low porosity hardfacing material that can be applied in various thicknesses from 0.002" to 0.100" or more, with carbide densities up to 70% by volume, embedded in a metallic matrix. Metallurgically bonded to the base metal, the resulting coating can achieve over 65 Rockwell C hardness values to withstand abrasive wear, even in high impact applications, and is well suited for all types of stationary knives.

Applied in two ways, depending upon the desired coating thickness and wear requirements, Lund BrazeCoat(TM) is well bonded and shows a porosity of <1%. The actual coating particles can be either tungsten carbide (WC), chromium carbide (Cr3C2), or a combination thereof. Applications include agricultural shear bars and construction, industrial and mining equipment.

Lund BrazeCoat(TM) can be applied to customer supplied shear bars and related equipment. Literature and quotations are provided upon request.
