Capital IQ Adds Detailed Public Company Ownership Data to its Information Platform
New feature makes Capital IQ a leading source for deep ownership data for 35,000 public companies held by 6,000 institutions, 33,000 funds, and 79,000 insiders
NEW YORK, Oct. 23 // -- Standard & Poor's Capital IQ division, the leader in web-based professional financial information services, today added a new feature to its information platform, Detailed Ownership Data. Available as an integrated add-on to the Capital IQ Platform, Detailed Ownership Data enables users to view a public company's latest shareholder base, historical ownership changes for up to five years, and insider transactions for up to two years.
This new data set contains detailed and timely ownership data for 35,000 public companies held by 6,000 institutions, 33,000 funds, and 79,000 insiders as well as individuals, foundations, ESOPs, and strategic investors. U.S. and Canadian ownership data is sourced from SEC 13Fs, 13Ds, 13Gs, Proxies, N30Ds and SEDAR filings. In addition, U.S. insider transaction data is sourced from SEC Form 4s and Form 144s. Non-North American holdings are sourced from global mutual fund portfolio reports.
"Early client feedback on ownership data has been phenomenal. The value here is not just being able to view ownership data but also to build lists of holdings and analyze the data relative to company fundamentals, news, and stock information," said Randy Winn, Managing Director of Capital IQ. "Because our data and tools are so integrated, our clients can quickly assess information from multiple perspectives and make better decisions."
Detailed Ownership Data users can gain visibility into the portfolios of institutions and funds broken down by company, geography, industry, and market capitalization as well as summary portfolio statistics. Individual position details include number of shares, market value, and size of holding relative to shares outstanding and total portfolio. Users can also track and analyze insider activities with stock price movements and company financials to discern any meaningful information embedded in these transactions. Additional features allow users to easily screen for companies with recent insider transactions and financials that support their investment thesis.
Detailed Ownership Data is a part of a series of recent additions to the Capital IQ Platform, including global macroeconomic data (June 2006), real- time market data and news (August 2006), and Standard & Poor's credit ratings history and research (September 2006).
