Cap Liners improve airflow even after contact with chemicals.

Press Release Summary:

Used to maintain structural integrity of containers of chemicals for agricultural and household use, 3FL-363 and 3FL-373 provide breathability without leaking and maintain maximum airflow. Both 3FL (Full Face Foam Liner) cap liners, effective throughout distribution, transportation, and storage, are 1 mm thick, repeatedly reseal in use, and resist effects of aggressive chemicals. Venting can be done via hole in cap (3FL-363) or threads of cap without hole (3FL-373).

Original Press Release:

New Gore® Cap Liners Significantly Improve Airflow Even after Liquid Contact with the Most Aggressive Chemicals

ELKTON, MD - - Two new 3FL (Full Face Foam Liner) cap liners from W. L. Gore & Associates are engineered to maintain the structural integrity of containers of chemicals for agricultural and household uses. The 3FL-363 and 3FL-373 cap liners, the latest addition to Gore’s extensive portfolio, provide excellent breathability and are resistant to many of today’s most aggressive chemicals – toilet cleaners, stain lifters, pipe clog removers, and organic fertilizers -- without necessitating any changes in formulation. This enables OEMs to get their products to market faster and possibly develop even more effective formulations.

Packaged chemical products often release or consume gases, causing plastic containers to collapse, swell, leak, or even burst. GORE® cap liners have been developed to help the packaging engineer maintain container integrity throughout distribution, transportation and storage.

The 3FL-363 and 3FL-373 cap liners allow containers to breathe without leaking and to maintain maximum airflow, even after contact with aggressive and highly concentrated chemical formulations. Venting can be done through a hole in the cap (3FL-363) or through the threads of a cap without a hole (3FL-373).

The new 3FL cap liners feature a multi-layer construction with an ePTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) membrane bonded across the face of the liner. This proprietary membrane allows gases to be released inside and outside the container, while preventing liquids from leaking out and contaminants from entering.  Both have the  new advanced oleophobic membrane that is ideal for use with most aggressive and viscous formulations.

Both of the new cap liners are only 1 mm thick and repeatedly reseal in use. They can be installed like a traditional foam liner and are available in various slit widths. Gore will be showcasing the 3FL-363 and 3FL-373 cap liners at interpack 2014, Dusseldorf, Germany, May 8-14, in Hall 10 / E98.
