Canyon Engineering Products Has Developed a Line of Manual Rotary Select Valves

VALENCIA, CA - Canyon Engineering Products has developed a line of manual rotary select valves which enable aircraft operators to isolate hydraulic pressure from specific systems, to permit ground maintenance of aircraft.

These manual rotary select valves are designed with dual, or multiple ports, and are qualified for aerospace hydraulic systems up to 5000 psi.

Canyon Engineering Products' Rudder Isolation Valve has operating pressures of 5076 psig, with 7.92 GPM flow rate at 7.25 PSID max. The lightweight housing is made of titanium and results in overall unit dry weight of 1.050 lb. When in use, the valve isolates the rudder actuator from the main hydraulic system during aircraft ground maintenance, thereby preventing movement of the aircraft rudder.

Canyon Engineering Products has also developed and qualified a 3-port, 2 position valve. This valve is used for 3000 psi hydraulic systems with 6.08 GPM flow rate at 58 PSID max. The overall weight of this valve is 1.90 lb. This valve is also used for aircraft ground maintenance, so that the nose door is isolated from the hydraulic system, for servicing.

Another 3-way, 2-position valve developed and qualified by Canyon Engineering Products is rated for 4000 psi hydraulic service. Manually operated, the valve controls hydraulic flow to the accumulator, as it distributes pressure from the aircraft's hand pump to the accumulator bottles. This valve is manufactured with a lightweight titanium housing, resulting in unit weight of 2.5 lb., with flow rate of 1 GPM at 50 PSID max.

Canyon also developed and qualified a 4-way, 3-position select valve which is used to control hydraulic pressure to multiple hydraulic systems. The valve is used to distribute hydraulic pressure from a hand pump to one of three discrete hydraulic systems. This valve operates at 300 psig and flows at 1.5 GPM at 30 PSID and weighs 4.0 lbs.

The complex valves were designed using state-of-the-art 3D solid modeling systems as well as flow modeling software. Established in 1978, Canyon Engineering is based in Valencia, CA and operates from an extensive 70,000 square foot facility, including robust manufacturing, assembly and test facilities. Canyon Engineering is AS9100 Revision C and ISO 14001 certified.

With an established average on-time delivery rating of 98%+ and Quality level of less than 1000 PPM, Canyon has an established reputation of a world class supplier. Canyon products fly every day on large commercial transports, regional jets, business jets, commercial and military rotorcraft, fighter jets and military transports.
