Unilux Pouch for Miti-Lite and Beacon Improves Portability in Mills

SADDLE BROOK, NJ February 7, 2006 - The portable Miti-Lite and Beacon from Unilux have become easier to handle in steel and paper mills with the introduction of a new carrying pouch. The canvas pouch, which fits over the shoulder like a sling, will allow mill operators and maintenance personnel to carry their lights hands-free and prevent them from being dropped. Lights can be operated directly from the pouch.

"The new pouch lets mill personnel use two hands to move up and down steep and narrow stairways quickly as they go from one level to another," said Mike Simonis, president, Unilux. "Once they get to the area needing closer inspection, they can operate their light to see what needs to be done to correct a problem and immediately have their hands free to do whatever work is required. Then, they can easily verify a defect or problem has been corrected and move on to their next task."

Both the Miti-Lite and Beacon are 168.3mm x 161mm x 342 mm (6.6 in x 6.3 in x 13.5 in) and weigh 2.3 kg (5 lbs) with the battery included. The Miti-Lite provides 900 Lux of illumination from a distance of 1m (3.3 ft) in a flood pattern, making it well-suited for continuous web manufacturing processes. The Beacon provides 800 Lux on a 0.5m (18-in) target area from a distance of 5m (16 ft). It is designed to pinpoint specific areas on rolls and rotating machine parts for diagnostics. Both lights can be synchronized to video or still cameras to record images for further study and can be set to automatic triggers. They operate on 15.5 VDC rechargeable NiCad batteries.
