Camtek's Xact System Selected by a Leading Semiconductor Manufacturer for Advanced Transmission Electron Microscope Analysis Applications
MIGDAL HAEMEK, Israel, March 14, 2011 -- Camtek Ltd. (NASDAQ and TASE: CAMT) ("Camtek" or the "Company"), announced today that a leading Asian Semiconductor Manufacturer has selected the Xact, Camtek's Advanced TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) sample preparation solution, enabling material analysis and verification. The Xact system is expected to be installed in the first quarter of 2011.
Shrinking feature dimensions and advances in material complexity require a scale of analysis only possible through STEM (Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope) and TEM processes. Sample preparation for the front-end of the line (FEOL) process monitoring and offline failure analysis has become a bottleneck. Existing sample preparation solutions are falling well short of meeting the evolving requirements of high resolution and high contrast imaging and analysis. Camtek's Xact overcomes these limitations by applying the ground-breaking Adaptive Ion Milling (AIM(TM)) technology, and offers negligible artifacts and improved throughput for customers.
The Xact was developed by SELA - Semiconductor Engineering Laboratories Ltd. ("SELA"), which was acquired by Camtek in November 2009.
